DAS VILLAIN I love all iterations of Swans, but their early era is my absolute favorite! The now infamous release was a 'bootleg that became a legitimate release'.
This release was during the bands transition from a sludgy, noisy, ugly (in a good way), industrialized No Wave band to the experimental/folk/Americana band most people know them as today. Yet, the stylistic change only worked in Swans' favor as this live release shows their mettle in beautifully dark crafted tracks.

pdsenkans64 1987 was a crazy year for me, when this live album came out. My Sheffield punk band split up in September 1987. I had been listening to the Swans for over a year. Then I stopped in September 1987. I started listening to them in 2015. I had a back catalogue of wonderful music to listen to. So them in August 2023. A religious experience. Favorite track: Sex God Sex (Live).
